Getting Here

There are two options for getting to Homer/Anchor Point.  Once you book your flight to Anchorage, you'll need to either rent a car in Anchorage or book a flight thru Ravn Alaska from Anchorage to Homer.  The drive from Anchorage to Homer is about 4-5 hrs, but it's a beautiful drive with many photo and side excursion opportunities.  If you fly into Homer, rental cars (Adventure Alaska Car Rentals) are limited so you'll want to book early.

Halibut Cove:

  • The Saltry - This restaurant serves locally sourced seafood and is located across Kachemak Bay in the beautiful community of Halibut Cove.  You need to make a reservation in advance as you can only get there on their boat, the Danny J Ferry.  While you're on the island, you'll have a chance to explore the boardwalks, art galleries & hike to the top of the island.

Fishing for halibut, salmon & rockfish is a must-do when visiting Alaska.  We recommend the following:

Hiking

  • Dimond Creek Trail - Between Anchor Point & Homer, the trail is located on the the bay side across from Diamond Ridge Rd.  It's a moderate trail that ends at the beach which is a great place for tide pooling during low tides.
  • Grewingk Glacier Lake Trail - Take a water taxi (Mako's Water Taxi) across the bay, to take this easy 6.5 mile trail to the pristine Grewingk Glacier Lake.

Beaches

  • Anchor Point Beach - Only a mile from the cabins
  • Bishop's Beach - Popular beach in Homer and great place to tide pool during low tide (If you're interested in tide pooling, each cabin should have a tide book to see when low tide occurs during your stay) 
  • Mariner Park - At the start of the spit
  • End of Spit - Opportunity to spot starfish under the ferry dock during low tide
